What to Expect:

We will begin our session with a relaxed conversation.  We will assess your needs and review your general health history to determine which massage approaches are appropriate for you.  You will have an opportunity to ask questions about the session before we begin.

When we're ready for your massage, I'll step out of the room to allow you to disrobe and get comfortable on the massage table. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session to ensure your modesty is respected at all times. A full body session generally includes work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.

This is your session, so it is important that you feel secure and comfortable. You can close their eyes and relax, or you are welcome to talk during your session if you prefer. Feel free to ask any questions about the session or about the particular technique you are receiving.

Each massage is unique, incorporating an intuitive blend of techniques to meet your needs and preferences.
Swedish Massage promotes relaxation, increases blood circulation and oxygen flow, releases toxins and reduces stress. Techniques include: long, gliding strokes, muscle kneading, friction, percussion and vibration. 
Deep Tissue Work helps to  release pain and restrictions in the muscles and connective tissues. I don't ascribe to a "no pain, no gain" philosophy, but there are times when deep tissue work can be very beneficial and effective for pain and tension relief. If we opt for deep tissue work, we will  communicate to ensure that that the pressure and depth of the work is within your comfort zone.  You are in control of the process throughout the session. Many clients describe deep tissue work as a "good hurt", the feeling that deep tension is being worked out of the muscles.
Myofascial Release helps to reduce pain, enhance flexibility and restore range of motion to your muscles.  Stress and trauma can result in painful restrictions in the fascia (or connective tissue) which surrounds and supports your muscle fibers. Techniques such as myofascial unwinding work gently with the natural wisdom of the body to release restrictions and adhesions in the connective tissue.
CranioSacral Therapy uses a soft touch to release restrictions in the craniosacral system (the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.) These gentle techniques support the functioning of the central nervous system. While I don't specialize in full body CranioSacral sessions, I do incorporate these techniques into massage as appropriate for relief of headaches, neck and back pain, Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ), general tension, etc.
Reiki is a gentle energy healing technique, which nourishes your body and energy field with ki (or chi), which is universal life force energy.  Reiki helps promote a sense of wholeness, integration, calm and vitality. In my experience, energy balance is vital to well-being, so I always incorporate Reiki into my massages.
Crystal Healing utilizes the vibrations of stones and crystals to promote positive energy flows and states in the body.  I work with a variety of stone massage wands to incorporate the power of crystal healing into your massage.
Aromatherapy uses the energies and aroma of essential oils to enhance your energetic well-being. Essential oils can help to energetically clear, ground, sooth and refresh your spirits. Essential oils are potent; I use high quality oils sparingly and intuitively at specific points during the massage. I don't use essential oils in my general massage creme, so if you are sensitive to oils just let me know and we can omit the aromatherapy.
